State Arrival Ceremony at Santa Barbara Airport for Queen Elizabeth II

This photograph was taken on March 1, 1983 at the Santa Barbara Airport in Santa Barbara, California, during a State Arrival Ceremony hosted by President Ronald Reagan in honor of Queen Elizabeth II's official visit to the West Coast of the United States. The queen's visit of February 26 - March 6, 1983 was the first time she had visited the West Coast of the United States. President Reagan also entertained Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, at his private ranch, the Rancho de Cielo (or Ranch in the Sky) in the rural Santa Ynez mountains outside Santa Barbara, where they dined on enchiladas, chiles rellenos, refried beans, tacos, rice, and guacamole. This photograph is part of a collection belonging to former White House Executive Chef Henry Haller. Haller served as executive chef at the White House from 1966-1987.
